Go Shopping in Malta

Shopaholics do not be afraid, because you won’t have to go cold turkey if you take a trip to Malta. In fact, far from it, because this little island has plenty to offer when it comes to ‘retail therapy’. So whether you’re after a gift, a souvenir, some of the excellent local crafts and produce to take home or the latest fashions, you won’t be disappointed. The island’s been doing the tourist thing for a long time so souvenir shopping is well taken care of everywhere you go. Look out for Maltese jewellery and glassware, which have international reputations, as well as lace and woollen jumpers and rugs from the sister island of Gozo. Valletta naturally has a great selection of shops, while Sliema and its neighbour St Julian’s are the places to be for fashionistas. Markets are also a big thing on the island, and are brilliant for fresh fish and other Mediterranean produce if you’re staying in self-catering accommodation.
